Agora (Greek) is an open place for markets and people to assemble for
various purposes, like a town square.
Agorism
- Social philosophy advocating creating a society with voluntary
exchanges and relations between people via aspects of
counter-economics and nonviolent revolution.
Do-ocracy
- An organizational structure in which individuals choose roles and
tasks for themselves and execute them wherein responsibilities attach
to people who do the work, rather than elected or selected officials. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Do-ocracy
FOEPATCHISM
- Fair, Open, Ethical, Peaceful, Accountable, Transparent, Consistent,
Honest, Inclusive Social Management - for collaborators, communities,
families, governments, groups, homes, organizations, social media,
societies, teams, workplaces, etc. "Foe" = enemy; "patch" = correction. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/FOEPATCHISM
Libertas = autonomy, freedom, sovereignty.
Phylaxis
- (medical) The protection against infection.
- (defensive) Guarding against cultural destruction, cyber warfare,
ideological subversion, malicious infiltration, medical tyranny,
political corruption, psychological operations, wealth theft, and
weaponized migration.
Voluntaryism
- Peaceful life without rulers, yet with social rules.
- The common sense idea that all forms of human association should be voluntary...
with the assertion that any act of violence [or coercion] other than self defense,
whether by an individual or organization, is illegitimate and unlawful. - Voluntary interactions - without rulers rather than supporting and suffering
under mafia governments and corporatocracy's monopoly on violence.
This includes what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own wallets,
bedrooms, bodies, businesses, and communities. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Meaningful_liberty#Voluntaryism

Very interesting. Marshall McLuhan predicted the internet before it came around. This is like predicting what will happen without the internet while it exists.
I guess we will still have radios, tvs, phones? Fax machines make a resurgence? This would be like human civilization going backwards which isn't unheard of.
Internet allows information to flow very fast, without it information still flows, just slower.
It's interesting, shut down internet to quell AI. Terminator came out on 1984, internet did exist but wasn't as widespread yet. Just used by military really. So that's probably why the story is about AI taking over the military basically. If internet was turned off could that stop skynet?
Skynet has their own Internal Network Backup in case the Internet is switched off. Just like the T-800 has a backup power supply in case the main one is damaged.
I already have a DOS environment with a word processor and games for if I don't want the distraction of the Internet. The absence of online capabilities is less relevant when the Internet is shut off. However, I still like it for how self-contained it is. The documentation is at your fingertips. On GNU there's
manbut that's reference material. If you want to get up to speed with a program, you'll have to look up a tutorial most of the time. Even graphical programs don't include manuals now. That being said, I know how to use my GNU programs so that isn't super relevant. I can't my finger on why but I really like a DOS environment for occasions like these.I'd download wackypedia, books, movies, and courses. Terrabytes worth. I already have offline maps.
Some people still use DOS or OS/2 on their old PCs. GRR Martin uses Wordstar in DOS to write his books.
Time to build my Node
https://www.projectnomad.us/
That's useful.
No internet, when you say no networking does that include mesh / sneakernets?
Download as much apps and roms that I can that don't need Internet like LibreOffice and MAME to my 12T USB drive. Install Debian on my PCs and do updates before the Internet is shut off.
I've hoarded more than enough.
I might be able to catch up.
And create.
I have some new drives, a new RAID, and another new dock that I still haven't set up. Plus I'd switch everything to Linux.
Meanwhile, their data centers would keep on chugging along.
The worst part would be them turning it back on - because the fear of fear of missing out.
Busting out the 56.6k. Pretty sure I can remember how to setup a BBS. Still have land lines too! (For my business.)
Not sure how business would work though. Things are completely dependent on email these days. Everything from orders, supplies and even catalogues get sent via email.
If we knew it was coming I could prep pretty good but so would AI. It could go dormant somewhere until the tech is reestablished.
I'd meet people more often, like we used to do.
We could also build EMP devices, steal from data centres, encrypt satellite transmissions, while disabling and reprogramming military robots.
