That's why it was cancelled.

The orange traitor cancelled Colbert (his handlers arranged it), and tried to cancel Kimmel, Meyers, and Fallon.

He's called for firings of specific journalists, such as Katy Tur and Sopan Deb. He's encouraged boycotts of news organizations and other companies he disagreed with. He's also managed to get millions from them in frivolous lawsuits. He's revoked the press pass of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta and has threatened others. His campaign also denied or revoked credentials for journalists from outlets like Mother Jones and VOA covering his events. He's applied stricter rules regarding press access effectively stripped access from dozens of reporters, including nearly all White House correspondents for The Washington Post at one point, and a majority of the Pentagon press corps.

He (his handlers again, as part of the published transition plans, destroyed a lot of government media, very early in the presidency. An executive order put hundreds of journalists and staff at the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) outlets like Voice of America (VOA) and Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) on administrative leave, effectively dismantling the organizations and threatening the jobs of thousands.

He's filed numerous defamation lawsuits against news organizations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and ABC, which press freedom groups view as an escalation of attacks on press freedom. His administration also secretly obtained phone records of New York Times reporters as part of a leak investigation. His administration also cut funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, which supports NPR and PBS, two of the most important US institutions.

He also ordered government agencies to cancel subscriptions to Politico Pro in retaliation for negative coverage. He often labeled news organizations the "fake news media" and "enemy of the people," which press freedom organizations and journalists say created a hostile and potentially dangerous climate for reporters. Part of what has made America 'Great' is the First Amendment and press freedoms. Many countries don't have that. The Trump admin's manipulations and hostilities have effectively cancelled or reduced the activities of numerous individual journalists and entire news bureaus across various news outlets, which has been an attack on free speech and the freedom of the press. It's anti-American. It's treason.

The other examples side, Colbert's show being cancelled isn't cancel culture IMO. The TV companies go where the money is, and Colbert just wasn't bringing in the viewers to justify the budget anymore.

The ratings for all the shows are terrible so Kimmel will get fired eventually too. They should put the shows on streaming. These late night shows are traditionally something for people to fall asleep to and people will always like things like that.
