I preordered one, waited 3 years for it, and when I finally got it, it just wasn't there. Slow, poor battery life, bad cellular connection, lack of needed apps including Signal. I really want a viable Linux smartphone, and props on them for trying, but this just ain't it.

I was about to write that people have reported similar things about the Pine phone. I guess this hardware used in phones is more expensive than people realize. The only people who can make it affordable and good all have connections that are telling the to make the device locked down and or not offer a Linux install.

At least Motorola announced they are going to be shipping some Graphine phones in 2027. It's a step in the right direction.

I want to have a DARPA conspiracy theory that any device with DARPA connected patents under a certain size and with radio capabilities, can't be a true general computing device.
