I wonder how good these forecasts are. I was getting people together for some cycling tomorrow. It looks like things will be improved but not enough. I haven't called it off yet. I'm trying to figure out if I should or do I tell people we'll figure it out morning of.

The sub.whitelist saves, but doesn't seem to update.
A day or few ago I removed a bunch of subs, like "Economics" that didn't seem too relevant or urgent - but it's still in the WEFreedom.SubMatrix feed.

It seems that if "Economics" is in both the whitelist and blacklist it is included.

You can only whitelist or blacklist for each field type. Otherwise it's just as sensible to exclude it from that list. If you whitelist, everything is blacklisted until whitelisted. So it would be odd to explicitly blacklist something.

Everything is neutral by default. Either an omition or setting a field to anything other than "white" or "black" will make it neutral. So where I wrote neutral it's really neutral because it's anything other than white or black.

Be careful though. That file is json. It's not very friendly to improvization. This can validate that format. Or I can add a checker button later.

I don't know what "fields" or "prefilters" are, or what JSON can do for us. (It's all Greek to me.) Seems like I don't need to as everything seems good.

That particular json file, among other things, sets if you are whitelisting or blacklisting on different fields. Right now you are on whitelist for topics and neutral on everything else. In theory you are trying to whitelist on origin, but I'm leaving that as an exercise for you. That way you can figure out what you like on your own. The available fields are topic,origin,user,domain,tag.

It being javascript makes it more powerful and we can really do anything. But it being backend javascript I can't really give you write access to it. So to make everything editable by you, that JS file reads other files like your wefreedom.json file and others to make its behavior data driven, since I can let you edit data but not code (you don't have enough experience).

So your config for the party lives across the wefreedom.js file and the wefreedom.json file. The json file is the side of the config you can edit. wefreedom.js converts that into code that can interact with the rest of the server.

Still semi-useful to see the .js file since it is your actual config.

A prefilter just means that matrixdb (my diy vector database) isn't outputting any records to matrixforum that don't match the filter. As opposed to post-filtering where matrixdb outputs things and then matrixforum filters it after the fact.

Three requests:

  1. Restore the matrix of Matrix-related links at the top (Gvid.TV, Img.Gvid.TV, etc. (plus maybe Projex.Wiki?)). Maybe this would be a good thing to edit too. Low priority.

  2. Again, alphabetize the white/black lists to make them easier to work with. Low priority.

  3. Unthrottle WEFreedom posts. May be unnecessary, maybe not. Medium priority.

The invites (WEFreedom meetings + rally) will go out today.

That's another area I can make configurable for a party. Then you can put anything you want there or nothing.

Noted. I hadn't thought of that. Wouldn't be hard. I maybe also be able to vibe code a sort toggle. I could see that after a long term the other sort might still be useful. Sort of like sorting files by modified.

Already done. I figured it could be confusing for the new people showing up. I have a note to double check that nothing is communicating a rate limit when it isn't there anymore. There is a softer method hinted at in the JS file if you do need throttling.

Tags are what post ids are called in the MatrixDB layer. MatrixDB is supposed to have no idea what an internet forum is. So if you wanted to block a specific post from WEFreedom (more likely if you aren't origin whitelisted), you could set tags to blacklist mode and then add the post ids.

Post throttling is removed.

Points work the same across all parties.

The "-" don't seem to be causeing too much trouble.

Yes, the sub.whitelist is outdated. It's now SQL based instead of file based. This makes the Alg faster and makes the following steps cleaner. Pre-filtering instead of post filtering.

On that sticky, it looks like you have one too many "e"s on freedom. Do you want me to edit that for you?

Another FYI. It sounds like we're still on the fense if you want to do origin white list. I've given you the toggle you need in either case. But just to mention it. If you do turn it on it's important to make any post you want to be visible there from wefreedom submatrix itself. I can also reset the origin mark of any of your past posts if you want. But maybe that's something to worry about later.

I added "Economics" (because there were a lot of them) and think I blacklisted the sub - but it's still in the WEF feed. I don't know if it takes a minute to apply, or maybe it doesn't work.

In this case, rather than just "Economics", the "Active Rules" might say "Economics + blacklist + topic + WEFreedom" so that I might understand what I'm looking at - especially before I "x"/delete or edit it.

Oh, I think I understand what is meant by "origin". All WEFreedom stuff should be posted from WEFreedom.SubMatrix, and I'll endeavour to do so in the future. Other posts can be shared across SubMatrix, though there may soon be other WEFreedom topics that might not be appropriate for all of SubMatrix (ie. Action, Announcements, Communications, Organizing, Rallies, WindsorElections, etc.). Perhaps if it's better we could prefix them (ie. WEAction, WEAnnouncements, WECommunications, WEOrganizing, WERallies, WEElections, etc.).
