Agora (Greek) is an open place for markets and people to assemble for
various purposes, like a town square.
Agorism
- Social philosophy advocating creating a society with voluntary
exchanges and relations between people via aspects of
counter-economics and nonviolent revolution.
Do-ocracy
- An organizational structure in which individuals choose roles and
tasks for themselves and execute them wherein responsibilities attach
to people who do the work, rather than elected or selected officials. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Do-ocracy
FOEPATCHISM
- Fair, Open, Ethical, Peaceful, Accountable, Transparent, Consistent,
Honest, Inclusive Social Management - for collaborators, communities,
families, governments, groups, homes, organizations, social media,
societies, teams, workplaces, etc. "Foe" = enemy; "patch" = correction. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/FOEPATCHISM
Libertas = autonomy, freedom, sovereignty.
Phylaxis
- (medical) The protection against infection.
- (defensive) Guarding against cultural destruction, cyber warfare,
ideological subversion, malicious infiltration, medical tyranny,
political corruption, psychological operations, wealth theft, and
weaponized migration.
Voluntaryism
- Peaceful life without rulers, yet with social rules.
- The common sense idea that all forms of human association should be voluntary...
with the assertion that any act of violence [or coercion] other than self defense,
whether by an individual or organization, is illegitimate and unlawful. - Voluntary interactions - without rulers rather than supporting and suffering
under mafia governments and corporatocracy's monopoly on violence.
This includes what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own wallets,
bedrooms, bodies, businesses, and communities. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Meaningful_liberty#Voluntaryism

The Napster effect.
Rightsholders? Is this a new political class if ownership?
The U.S. seems awfully interested in defending alleged "rightsholders."
They love to bully poor little Anna.
Reminds me of the Navy investigating the "friends of Dorothy."
Corporations now have rights under that law, which grants them personhood. They are called rightsholders because they own the copyright to their works. Did I mention rightsholders lobby government politicians and officials with millions of dollars? Whatever happened to the fair use part of the copyright laws? For parody, non-profit, and educational use.
Citizens are in a Constitutionally defined state/status of Servitude to the Federal govt.
"We the people" doesn't apply to them.
They did the same thing to the Internet Archive and its eBook library.
I wonder why torrenting died as a practice. It's kind of a bad protocol for security. VPNs can clean that up. But the other point is redesigning torrent to work a bit like freenet or tor wouldn't be that hard. We should have done it. Then there wouldn't be an anna's archive to sue.
But I see they are going after magnet link indexers in general. btdigg is gone.
What about IPFS?
Torrenting isn't dead, yet. eMule either, though diminished.
(((They))) strangle our freedoms and cultures every way they can.
(((They))) compel us to pay for their shitty consumer propaganda while stomping on indie content every way they can.
(((They))) force feed you their copyrighted pop-culture then sue you into oblivion and steal your profits if you get creative with their content in samples, fan fiction, merch, etc.
Most of the VPNs are controlled by a few big corporations and lie about your security and privacy.
As much as people complain about VPN security being fake, which it might be. If you are torrenting TV shows or whatever constitutes 90% of their users, and that info gets used, then that would pop their business completely. And if the govt is using VPNs as an info-sieve they are going to want to keep the model operational.
If you are doing something more serious like hacking the Pentagon, you're going to have to take more responsibility than just signing up for a VPN service anyway.
So I think for torrents, a VPN is fine. Where it sucks is if your client were to run for even a second without the VPN running, torrent as a protocol is broadcasting to as many people as possible what files you want and what files you are sharing with your direct IP. That's why I think something better than torrent should exist. It should be something where if that process is running, on it's own account it's not leaking anything. It shouldn't need an external setup to be secure.
Leak-free makes sense. Basically for everything.
Also bloat-free would be good too. But that's another thing.
On NaomiBrockwellTV, 3 months ago she suggested government traps with VPNs, and 3 years ago she posted "The DARK side of VPNs" but I'm sure she posted about the very few corporations that control most VPNs, perhaps in the latter. I've still never used a VPN, but for years I've been suggesting we set up or join an open-source VPN or few. Rob Braxman has talked about VPN pros and cons too.
There was an attempt to create a Tor/Torrent hybrid, but I don't know whether it's still maintained or usable:
https://tribler.org/about.html
https://tribler.org/anonymity.html
I have a protocol I made that I'm tempted to let AI help me finish. I haven't released it for years unsure of the shitshow it could create. It's encrypted at rest and transit, uses sharding and multi-hop like freenet, uses tor as a backbone. Then it differs from torrent in that it has no chunks. It's just arbitrary byte-range requests. Just ask for the part of a file you want, so you can instantly stream if the tor and multi-hop doesn't slow it down too much.
But like freenet it also uses hash based file identity. Guaranteed it would get used for some bad stuff the second it's released because it is uncensorable. The second you know the hash of a file you could get it.
The file transfer stuff exists on paper, while the storage, file explorer, and local media serving has existed longer than AI has.
Sounds super cool.
You can't solve the bad stuff - but freedom is critical.
I'm guessing it would become open-source. Might need a white paper?
Have you a name for it?
Before anything though it would be important to let it be known you have deadman releases out there, so any glowies inspired to rub you out no longer have a reason to - other than to set an example.
It might be neat to develop branding and a campaign before releasing it with a big widespread drop to prevent getting extinguished somehow. The SubMatrix site may or may not benefit from associated branding and marketing.
It does have a name. But I might not release the name here because I don't know how detached from other online personas I want it to released under.
PM me if you wish to dev this further.
It's still a long way off as some complex developments take years, like building a house or making a movie, but if my Santa Libertas thing finds any kind of moderate success, perhaps that can help promote and propagate your protocol and/or any other novel solutions. I have 14 shows planned thus far (the issues are endless), the 14th about solutions, but haven't touched the wiki for some time and have at least twice as many offline notes to integrate - and before I release even one show I must have at least 5 completed and ready to go. Of course before that I aim to get Goats feedback to improve the concepts, scripts, and things.
