Agora (Greek) is an open place for markets and people to assemble for
various purposes, like a town square.
Agorism
- Social philosophy advocating creating a society with voluntary
exchanges and relations between people via aspects of
counter-economics and nonviolent revolution.
Do-ocracy
- An organizational structure in which individuals choose roles and
tasks for themselves and execute them wherein responsibilities attach
to people who do the work, rather than elected or selected officials. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Do-ocracy
FOEPATCHISM
- Fair, Open, Ethical, Peaceful, Accountable, Transparent, Consistent,
Honest, Inclusive Social Management - for collaborators, communities,
families, governments, groups, homes, organizations, social media,
societies, teams, workplaces, etc. "Foe" = enemy; "patch" = correction. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/FOEPATCHISM
Libertas = autonomy, freedom, sovereignty.
Phylaxis
- (medical) The protection against infection.
- (defensive) Guarding against cultural destruction, cyber warfare,
ideological subversion, malicious infiltration, medical tyranny,
political corruption, psychological operations, wealth theft, and
weaponized migration.
Voluntaryism
- Peaceful life without rulers, yet with social rules.
- The common sense idea that all forms of human association should be voluntary...
with the assertion that any act of violence [or coercion] other than self defense,
whether by an individual or organization, is illegitimate and unlawful. - Voluntary interactions - without rulers rather than supporting and suffering
under mafia governments and corporatocracy's monopoly on violence.
This includes what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own wallets,
bedrooms, bodies, businesses, and communities. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Meaningful_liberty#Voluntaryism

WOW!!!
Thanks!!!
And thanks for writing this up so fast. I was just thinking whenever you might get around to it.
It certainly is tempting.
In Canada they offer the Ideapad 3i, not the Ideapad 3. The 3i apparently comes with Win11 rather than ChromeOS, yet the Amazon listing does not. The 3i mostly seems the same, but much slower. Amazon stats aren't reliable either. Confusing.
I used to use TightVNC 23 years ago.
It seems one important factor is you'd want a capable monster machine to connect to - and a consistent connection. I have spotty wifi at home and at the studio. I could setup a server in the cold cellar, but better, I will be running a cat5 cable to the studio. I have many older PCs, including this laptop, but aim to get a proper modern editing set up after I set up a couple RAIDs.
My biggest concern is getting too far out over my skis and getting in tech trouble I can't resolve.
No problem.
Woah, I guess that page is just broken outside of Canada. It doesn't actually show the product. If it's the same hardware but with Windows on it, it's probably even easier to put Linux on it. But I'd rather see what the page says before guessing.
Sweet. A VPN worked. I don't trust the weight value they put. 771g. That translates to 1.69 pounds. But it's the same laptop which in America weighs 3.5 pounds? That seems suspect.
So VNC is extremely fast now if the server side is configured right. Valve is able to transmit live, low lag gaming over it, called video game streaming.
I agree that eithernet is a good idea. Wifi not only has latency, but each packet gets different latency. That won't be fun over VNC.
This is why I'm saying to set it up so you don't have to do all of that to get something out of it. Even I didn't get the setup I have now over night. You just start with the right foundations. Have a light laptop, have a cheap VPS, have a desktop with a hard connection to the internet. Upgrading hardware, swapping to more open operating systems, and setting up software to get tighter integration between them should be the optional step you do with time.
There were other differences between the 3 and 3i besides processing speed. Battery is a big weight. Also, the Amazon has Chrome OS. It's here where it said Win11.
On that page of supported devices, it lists two Ideapad 3 - but no Ideapad 3i. You think that matters?
23 years ago VNC was nice, lo-rez, but not for streaming, animating, or anything much other than monitoring things.
I think I get you now. Not set up all at once. Get established in stages. I was confused.
I heard Arch is going to go along with the ID nonsense. Maybe Artix won't?
Artix for sure isn't.
