What if they know exactly what they're doing. But politicians don't really represent you. Republican democracy is the most easily corruptable system. It literally creates a caste of people at the contol levers who have to maximally sell off what they have control over to give enough favors to get re-elected. It sets up a game that guarentees corruption.

What we need is a king with absolute security. As Machievelli pointed out, if their status is threatened, they will maximally redirect the resource they have control over to protect themselves. So to have an apolitical system instead you put someone in power who can't be removed, is given an amount of wealth exceeding their desire for wealth, and who wants to leave you alone.

With a population of 350 million people, you can't tell me we can't psych profile someone who fits that bill? There are actually a few people who are relatively disinterested in wealth, and most people who aren't politicians naturally do want to leave you alone. If we found someone like that and told them you'll have some reasonable amount of wealth even though you don't want it, and you don't have to do anything, I'm sure we could find someone who would take it. The key is to find someone who wasn't asking to.

Then society's one rule is you can't exceed his power. Because that would break the goal of having the most powerful person be someone who is leaving us alone. His only job is to displace people who think they can take the title of supreme authority. Nope, it's that guy whose on his third week of only playing runescape. He's the supreme authority. Then all of society just has to fully get behind keeping him in power no matter what.

Sounds good, but when the Democrats are elected to Congress and White House in 2028, we will have communism seize the means of production. If not, we will have Republicans with corrupt crony capitalism controlling things.

[-]newJiminy2(+1|0)

Dems will be fully capitalist and sell out to the rich don't worry about that.

[-]RickSanchez2(+1|0)

What about the DSA?

[-]newJiminy2(+1|0)

Democratic socialism is like socialism in one country or national socialism. Can't work because capitalists bribe the leaders which is legal and capitalist. Can't work long term anyway. The new deal was socialist. They'll sell out like Obama did. Fox News and repubs calling them socialists helps them win cuz that's what people want.

But socialism leads to scarsity of food and items.

We have artificial scarcity with capitalism. Food is abundant and cheap since the green revolution. Govt pays farmers to keep prices high.

Sounds like we need to reject the system ASAP. Because otherwise we're fucked.

There is nothing wrong with the parties specifically. It's a general issue. The structure of the system guarentees they would suck. Democracy: The god that failed

Voting rarely gets you the party choice you want. But even if you had party choice you would only have bad outcomes. We should stop supporting a system that only gives bad choices. We're never morally obligated to support one system over another, despite what our government education/brainwashing told us. If a system keeps sucking it's ok to say so. Our system sucks and is 100% not worth spreading around the world.

What system works perfectly? Our system sucks, but it is the only one we have. Changing it might lead to something worse, like communism.

[-]newJiminy2(+1|0)

Changing the system, aka violent revolution, will only happen when we have hunger In our belly. Homeless people living easy has me realizing that's not coming soon. Bread and circuses. We're not sans culottes.

[-]RickSanchez2(+1|0)

Homelessness is a prison; once a person gets in, it is hard to get out. Plus, the panhandling amounts to an average of $50K a year tax-free because it is cash.

Nah it's easy
