Agora (Greek) is an open place for markets and people to assemble for
various purposes, like a town square.
Agorism
- Social philosophy advocating creating a society with voluntary
exchanges and relations between people via aspects of
counter-economics and nonviolent revolution.
Do-ocracy
- An organizational structure in which individuals choose roles and
tasks for themselves and execute them wherein responsibilities attach
to people who do the work, rather than elected or selected officials. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Do-ocracy
FOEPATCHISM
- Fair, Open, Ethical, Peaceful, Accountable, Transparent, Consistent,
Honest, Inclusive Social Management - for collaborators, communities,
families, governments, groups, homes, organizations, social media,
societies, teams, workplaces, etc. "Foe" = enemy; "patch" = correction. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/FOEPATCHISM
Libertas = autonomy, freedom, sovereignty.
Phylaxis
- (medical) The protection against infection.
- (defensive) Guarding against cultural destruction, cyber warfare,
ideological subversion, malicious infiltration, medical tyranny,
political corruption, psychological operations, wealth theft, and
weaponized migration.
Voluntaryism
- Peaceful life without rulers, yet with social rules.
- The common sense idea that all forms of human association should be voluntary...
with the assertion that any act of violence [or coercion] other than self defense,
whether by an individual or organization, is illegitimate and unlawful. - Voluntary interactions - without rulers rather than supporting and suffering
under mafia governments and corporatocracy's monopoly on violence.
This includes what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own wallets,
bedrooms, bodies, businesses, and communities. - http://Projex.Wiki/wiki/Meaningful_liberty#Voluntaryism

You applied a number of interesting tests to try to deduce that the object was moving, so I believe you saw something.
It's interesting that it was on a night with meteor shower, so one might expect a larger than average number of witnesses to an event on that night.
The atmosphere isn't consistent in it's density, and the variable density causes distortions to appear in high magnification telescopes.
A technique has been developed to correct for these distortions, which involves using a special laser which generates a specific frequency that excites aerosolized sodium atoms that float on the upper atmosphere; generating a known and calibrated grid pattern as a baseline reference; and the generated light forms along discrete bands which can be filtered out as noise.
These upper atmospheric distortions can be measured and digitally mapped, and this distortion information can be applied to the images recorded by the telescope, which allows astronomers to continue to use ground based telescopes for high resolution imaging.
However, the digital processing could be used to falsify data, and create fake black hole bullshit, etc. And the native true believer scientists would never suspect.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that a similar laser was built that could be projected into the upper atmosphere, and generate light in the visible spectrum. This would certainly appear as another point of light, and it would be similar in appearance to a star.
Clever schemers could wiggle the laser around on nights where many stargazers could be expected.
Of I knew my buddies were going to look for meteor showers, and I had access to a laser that could do this, then I'd be tempted to entertain myself.
UFO pranks are top tier entertainment.
But there's no way to know with any degree of certainty what it is that you saw.
You'll have to decide for yourself.
Prank, psyop, or legitimate space alien activity. You still got to see something interesting that most people have never seen.
That's good stuff.
I doubt it's a prank. If they're going through the effort of creating this illusion, they will also install witnesses, it should be part of a psy-op with press coverage and all. Indeed it feels very adventurous to see something unfamiliar regardless of what it is.
Did the media report the event in the local/regional news?
Did it make a noise like a drone or helicopter?
How many shrooms did you take?
But seriously, you have a way better idea than I do about what it was, much less how it appeared.
They make lights with gases in many colours.
The moving light versus the other stagnant lights in the sky could depend on that light being terrestrial. Maybe something like a Morgana effect.
Thank you. Yes, this seems like a good direction in which to think but what I'm wondering about then is what could it be if it's terrestrial? It'd have to be a spaceship. It's not like something like that will be a random satellite. I don't think there are stationary satellites that aren't on the equator line since it'd have to constantly expend energy to move alongside the earth's rotation. I'm not even sure how many stationary satellites there are in the first place. That isn't what it was.
Come to think of it, I feel like this may have been a planet as it had the same outline where it appeared that part of a sphere was lit, and there was a dark part, much like you can see with the moon's surface but smaller. If so it should still be there. Hm. But planets don't appear on the zenith point from here so that's still a discrepancy.
I was too sleepy to wake up early last night. Also I didn't take my phone along that time, I was cautious from having almost lost it the night before but I can just be careful. With my phone I can just see what Stellarium has to say.
Mercury and Venus can be pretty bright but will inevitably be near sunrise/set.
And Venus looks like it jumps around at times.
It was near the zenith point while I'm in north-western europe so it couldn't have been a planet afaik, all planets orbit the sun in the same plane.
Yeah. You said that but I was still thinking horizon. My father talked about seeing something like you saw when he was kid in the 1950's or 1960's. Looking straight up while on a hay ride, I think he said that he saw three points of light slowly come together and then shot off in different directions. I'll have to ask him about the story again.
Satellite? Did it move in a straight line?
Coincidentally this video was just recommended to me on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KbXrZqBQgJE (1 day ago)
ISS, especially near the end.
That's the thing: it hovered around the zenith point. If it moved in a straight line it would've been a meteorite. The sky was full of those as we were going through a meteor shower. And indeed, on any other day that would've been a satellite. But it was for certain neither of those. The alternative is a star which I'm somehow mistaking for moving around in spite of all the tests that suggest it did indeed move. Otherwise I feel like it has to be some kind of space ship. (Which doesn't even imply an alien life form as there are secret as well as open space programs.)
Well I actually UFO'd a spotted once which is unbelievable I know.

That was my first thought but I just wasn't quite sure. Thank you for confirming this for me.

Yeah it turns out all the super fast flying lights UFOs were people playing with powerful lasers.
